Another process animation--this time from a really old Intaglio print. I found a bunch of different versions from the process of working on the plate and put them together here. I made this in 2004 and found it hidden in a box yesterday!

Upcoming Cotton Museum LP Etching..

I'm in the process of doing an etching on a 1 sided COTTON MUSEUM 12" LP. This is the first time i've worked on an etching for an LP and it's actually kind of stressful. You just get one chance to do it, so you have to make sure you have a steady hand...its totally different working on this compared to drawing on paper. When working on paper I usually figure out the composition in pencil before inking a drawing, but with this etching on a lacquer there isn't a way to do this. I ended up doing a lot of pencil sketches on paper before using the metal tools to etch on the lacquer. Check the drawing below to see a sketch that i used to prepare for the etching...

A while ago I was asked to contribute a page for a project called “NARRATIVE CORPSE” where a bunch of artists would continue drawing a comic without knowing the story---they only got to see the last frame from the page prior to theirs. It was a pretty fun project to be involved in! View my finished page to the Left, and the sketch on the right. If you want to see all the other pages that the artists did CLICK HERE --Mat Brinkmans is super killer!

Unused Kid Robot "DUNNY" Designs...

Here are a batch of 6 unused “DUNNY” designs that the toy company KID ROBOT contacted me to do. They are for a series of toys that different designers create the style that they will be painted. They didn’t end up using them for this batch of toys, but may be used for future toys. Total bummer they didn’t end up using them for this batch, but it was pretty fun trying to come up with designs to fit into their template. Check them out below---click any image for a bigger version!

I made this a long time ago (i think 2005/2006), but thought this would be a good place to post it. I took photos of a painting that i did at random times through the process and made an animation out of it. It’s called “the Path through the Swamp” and you can see a higher quality scan of it over in the ARTWORK part of TASTY SOIL.

BEAST SIGHTINGS
Royal Oak, Fall 2008 --its still hanging out in a few different areas so see if you can spot it!
I’m going to use this blog for all the odds and ends that don’t really belong on the news page of tasty soil. Check here for the happenings of my art/music. I also plan on posting lots of sketches of random creatures---maybe even do a podcast here one of these days!
