There are some killer things coming out in the near future. The SLITHER / SIXES split 7" is out getting mastered right now, hopefully to be back from the pressing plant for the EUROPEAN tour. A new COTTON MUSEUM 12" LP is half done, and ODD CLOUDS has a LP that is waiting to come out on Tasty Soil. I'm sure there will be a couple new CDr's coming out for the European tour also.

COTTON MUSEUM in NEW YORK TIMES

The NEW YORK TIMES did a story on my friend Jon Burmit's project with radio transmitters that I was apart of this past month. I created a Cotton Museum track that is set to play as a loop broadcasting on 107.9 for a 1 block radius of my house in Hamtramck. It's been going for almost 2 months at this point and is still up if you want to drive by. The piece is available to listen to at the NYTimes by clicking HERE, it's on the left hand side of the page in a media player. They require you to register to view their site though...

• TASTY SOIL NEWS!

Lots of stuff has been going on in the world of Tasty Soil. We have three new releases, in the store. Feel free to read about them below.

Odd Clouds has played a lot of great shows recently. Sadly our great friend & guitarist Glen Morren moved away to texas, we'll miss him alot! Matt Smith has joined us recently on bass and Chris Sprague has finally rejoined the band on congas. We have a new studio album that is just about to be mastered that will come out on Tasty Soil someday soon. Planed releases on Not Not Fun records, Qbico Records (italy) are further off in the distance.

Cotton Museum has been on a little break due to all the Odd Clouds shows, but shows are in the process of being booked. This thursday in Ann Arbor w/ His Name is Alive (read further down the news page for more info)...Just starting to work on organizing a spring tour out west with Dead/Bird

I'll also have art at a group show in Hamburg, Germany on Dec. 2nd 2006 at the gallery named Feinkunst Krüger that is curated by Heiko Müller.

My good buddy A.J. got a killer tatoo of the cover art for Cotton Museum "Beautiful Golden Fur" on his arm. Check it out, it came out great!!

• HEY DUDES, We've got a new distributed item in the Tasty Soil store from ODD CLOUDS!!!!
It's the new LP called "Cavernous End" out on Ypsilanti Records... you can order it from Tasty Soil though!! read about it below....

ODD CLOUDS "THE CAVERNOUS END" LP

"Odd Clouds is a roving collective of Detroit's most touched savages led by the restless vision of bandleaders Chris Pottinger (Cotton Museum/Tasty Soil Records) and Jamie Easter (formerly of the Pirhannas and Little Claw, now touring solo as a perfomance artist of the most disturbing caliber.) After about a year of existance, we're glad to unleash "The Cavernous End" as the first full-fledged album by this tribe, a face-melting record composed of three extended feral-psyche jams. The group is prone to impropmtu and somewhat confrontational public performance, lysergic deep-woods jamming and the like, and their bone-through-the-nose approach to music comes through strong on wax. Gutteral grunting, animalistic howls, blathering bursts of woodwinds and electronic noise bubble up to the surface of primal percussion and sounds of creatures dying and being born. Sounding like a feild recording of a late-60's cult farmhouse celebration or a private-press psyche record of the same era, "The Cavernous End" is moody, scary and beautiful, and hints at the depths of future weirdness the Clouds will send our way. Only 300 copies were made, and the packaging is a beautifully silk-screened line art collaboration between Easter and Pottinger of some fucked up creatures doing their thing in the woods. " --FRED THOMAS

ORDER IT NOW IN THE TASTY SOIL STORE!!!!!

ODD CLOUDS will be playing the HOLY SHIT!! FEST on June 30th at the CAID Building in Detroit with other local greats like Mammal and Tentacle Lizardo.

In other Tasty Soil news, expect some new stuff this summer-- new scum from Cotton Museum, a new T-Shirt, Slither "Live east coast" cd-r + MORE.

• TASTY SOIL NEWS!!!!
Sorry for the looonnngg break from updates to the site...i've been super busy filling orders for the TM/CM split lp, thanks everyone for checking it out!

• ODD CLOUDS
Played at the Hamtramck Blowout and somehow got featured on the cover of Metro Times that week, with a really large write up:

click the image or the link below to read the story
( http://www.metrotimes.com/editorial/story.asp?id=8927 )

The Odd Clouds "Cavernous Ends" LP is going to be out SOOON on Ypsilanti Records, just as soon as we get the covers back from our amazing printer Nick Bittakis (the same rad dude who did the screen printing for the TM/CM 12" lp covers)

• COTTON MUSEUM
Just got a nice write up in the Chicago Reader for a show this Monday at the Empty Bottle:

"Lots of noise music lingers at the white end, where the dominant sounds are high-pitched and unfocused, like a swarm of evil insects in the near distance. But Michigan's Chris Pottinger, aka Cotton Museum, uses a much broader and more palatable range of frequencies, and instead of hovering insistently his tones bounce and ricochet--they go past off-kilter to a kind of discomfiting perviness that's as insidious as ebola. On Beautiful Golden Fur (released by Tasty Soil in a CD-R edition of 100), wobbly globs of squeal lurch and lunge as what might be a giant vacuum outfitted with helicopter blades sucks them in and chops them up. His output actually sounds like intake--he's a predator, not a puker, which makes him one of the most genuinely bizarre noise nerds I've heard in ages. Fag Tapes honcho Heath Moerland headlines as Sick Llama, a droner who interrupts his barge-harbor ambience with dog whine. Opening the show are Is (a suburban act that sounds like a lowrider dragging its muffler through a sandstorm), Bloodyminded, Crippled Insectual (a caterwauling thrash-noise collaboration between Julia Gilman of Insect Deli and Blake Edwards of Vertonen), and I Love Presets. 9:30 PM, Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western, 773-276-3600 or 866-468-3401. --Liz Armstrong"

THREE NEW TASTY SOIL RELEASES!!!!!!

THURSTON MOORE / COTTON MUSEUM Split 12" LP

Two dudes over 6 feet tall making totally fucked noise. THURSTON MOORE is on side A, putting you into a reverb junk zone a hundred feet under the ground where you can actually hear the grubs boring holes through the dirt & sucking the flesh off your dead pets corpse. COTTON MUSEUM is on side B creating theremin & loop scum, super rotted style. Skulls scraping on rib bones over and over. Created to keep your mind off of the insect eggs that were laid in your eye sockets. Try sticking your damn patch cable right into an open sore and it would probably sound something like this record. Get one at the Tasty Soil Store!

Photos taken from the screen printing for the covers of the Thurston Moore/Cotton Museum Split 12" LP! Tasty Soil's friend Nick (aka Dead/Bird) did an AMAZING job with the 3 color screen print. Seriously, they look NICE. In real life the paper stock is a light sky blue, but it doesn't really show in some of the photo's, so keep that in mind. The LP's will be available soon, we're just waiting on them to come from the pressing plant.

Click each photo for a larger version.

The art show in Royal Oak was great! Thank you for coming out. Here are some photos taken by Erika Rich at the reception.
